2019 Essex County Championships Report

Stanway swimmers have been competing in the 2019 Essex County Championships over the last few weekends producing some fine results.  Stanway achieved 22 points beating several bigger clubs in the process!

In the first weekend, Rachel, Macey, Izzy and Maddie all achieved PBs in the 100m Breaststroke with Maddie finishing 7^th in the final and Izzy finishing 13th. Rachel and Maddie also competed in the 200m Breast, both achieving PBs, with Maddie finishing 8^th. Maddie broke a club record in the 200m Medley and in the Breaststroke events.  The Medley Relay team of Amelie, Grace, Macey & Rachel recorded a great time and just missed out on the points in 9^th place.

For the 50m events, Stanway swimmers travelled to the London Aquatic Centre.  In the Freestyle, there were PBs for Taylor who finished 17^th, Max who finished 5^th, Rachel, Connie, Martha and Maddie who finished 8^th.  Lucy and Izzy also competed.

In the Backstroke, there were PBs for Max, Dominic, Macey, Rachel, Lucy, Izzy and Maddie with Maddie finishing 6^th, Max 9^th and Connie 17^th.  Taylor, Amelie and Grace also competed.

Swimming in the Butterfly, Chamal, Dominic, Macey, Connie, Martha and Maddie PB’d with Martha finishing 19^th and Maddie achieving a Regional qualifying time.  Taylor and Lucy also competed.

In the Breaststroke, there were PBs for Edward, Grace, Macey, Rachel, Connie and Maddie.  Ed and Izzy both finished 13^th and Maddie 10^th.  Taylor, Martha and Lucy also competed.

In the 50m events, club records were broken by Ed in the Breaststoke and Maddie in all events.

Back at Basildon, Taylor, Macey, Rachel, Connie, Lucy, Izzy and Maddie swam the 100m Freestyle with PBs for Rachel (19^th place), Macey and Maddie who broke the club record.

Onto the final weekend and in the 100m backstroke, Macey PB’d and finished 14^th whilst Connie also PB’d and finished 20^th.  Lucy and Maddie also competed.  Rachel and Maddie swam in the 200m freestyle with Rachel achieving a PB and 12^th place and Connie and Maddie also competed in the 200m Backstroke.

Maddie finished 8^th in both the 100m and 200m Butterfly achieving a club record in the 100.  In the last event of the championships, Rachel achieved a PB in the 200 Medley and 17^th place.

Well done to all swimmers who qualified for the championships and representing Stanway Swim Club in such a great way.
