Make sure you have all your equipment
before leaving home (swim wear, hat, goggles, kick board, pull buoy, flippers
and drink). If you have an inhaler for asthma bring it with you for every
session.
Late arrival is disruptive to other
swimmers. Please try and ensure you arrive 15 minutes before the session is due
to start to allow time for changing, filling water bottles, going to the toilet
etc.
Be poolside on time, with hat and goggles
on and remaining Kit tidy on the poolside.
If you have any new medical or injury
updates to advise the coach, please do this before entering the pool.( if these
are new long term medical issues please ensure that the Club secretary is
informed and a new Medical Form completed ). If these are short term injuries,
e.g. sprained knee preventing Breaststroke training then a please remind the
coach at each session until the injury is resolved.
If you feel ill or unable to train, tell
the coach and get out of the pool. Ensure that the coach knows if you are
feeling unwell and leaving poolside for the toilet or to go to the changing
room.
When the coach is talking, be quiet and
pay attention. Ignoring the coach will not be tolerated. If you do not
understand the coach, please request the coach repeats or explains the request
so that you are able to train as the coach is expecting you to.
Always do a proper turns and underwater
transition. Do not waste training by walking the last 3 metres of the set in
the shallow end. Ensure you swim to the end of the pool and request other
swimmers move out of the way if they are preventing you from doing this.
If the swimmer behind you catches up and
touches your feet, this is a request to allow the swimmer behind to pass. Move
to one side and let the swimmer pass, and at a convenient gap continue your
swim. If you are constantly catching up the swimmer in front, or you are
constantly stopping to allow other swimmers pass, this maybe due to swimmers
not leaving a big enough gap when each set of lengths are started. Work with
the swimmers in your lane, and the coach to ensure that you and other swimmers
leave enough gap, and swim in an order that allows the slightly faster swimmers
to go first.
Do not spoil the training session for
other swimmers. Stopping during a length for no reason, hanging around the ends
during a set, doing handstands, sitting on the bottom of the pool, chatting etc
is not only a waste of training time, but also very disruptive to other
swimmers.
If you have to stop for any reason (
drink , cramp, inhaler etc ),
then try to keep out of the way of other swimmers.
Do not sit on the lane ropes as this stretches them, causing them to
move around as swimmers complete sets and get in the way.
